Literary Pairings Book Discussion Group

Literary Pairings Book Discussion Group In-Person

Literary Pairings Book Discussion Group generally meets the second Wednesday of the month from 7 to 8:30 pm from September through June in person, unless otherwise noted. Some meetings may be on Zoom, depending on weather. Participants will read an assigned classic one month followed by a contemporary readalike similar in theme, plot and/or characters the following month. Facilitators Nancy Christy and librarian Ben Hanley will lead the discussions and prepare questions. Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions as well.

November/December – The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne AND Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan

January/February – The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan AND Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson

March/April – Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko AND The Night Watchman by Louise Erdrich

May/June – The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie AND The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill
