Climate Impact on our Landscape and Gardens In-Person

Join the Barrington Garden Club on Tuesday, February 11 at 1 pm for a special lecture by John Torgan from The Nature Conservancy. John will be talking about conservation in Rhode Island including our challenges and opportunities, particularly coastal preservation.

Free and open to all. Registration required for non-Garden Club members only.

John Torgan is the Director of The Nature Conservancy in Rhode Island. In this role he leads a staff of more than 30 to protect and restore lands, fresh water and tidal waters in collaboration with the worldwide organization and many local partners. The Nature Conservancy is also actively engaged in policy including climate change, in partnerships for conservation and restoration, and in urban forestry in Rhode Island and across the region. John also serves as Executive Sponsor of The Nature Conservancy's Offshore Wind program.  Prior to being State Director, John was The Nature Conservancy's Director of Ocean and Coastal Conservation for 5 years. Prior to that he worked for Save the Bay doing advocacy and education about protecting Narragansett Bay.
